Call for Presentations
Present papers, organize panel discussions, and make group
presentations about research and action that draws on multiple languages and cultural perspectives in
and across all disciplines with SUNY colleagues and other participants. Topics might include but are
not limited to:
- University structures that support and implement bilingual/immersion education
- Key role of non-language faculty in advancing internationalization.
- Integration heritage learners into the undergraduate student experience.
- Influence of globalization on concepts such as "standard language" and "native speaker."
- Integration of study abroad with collaborative learning, service learning and language use.
- Methodologies for shifting study abroad from a "general education" experience to a focused
internationalized learning opportunity.
- Use of area studies and certificate programs to expand LACxC goals
Abstract Format
To offer a paper, panel, or other program
session, please provide the following, in the form of MS Word documents attached to an email message:
- A cover sheet including:
- Title of your paper or session
- Brief Description (50-75 words)
- Names of all presenters, their roles, and contact information for each, email
addresses, telephone and fax numbers)
- Brief biographical sketch of each participant
- Relationship to Conference Themes
- Target Audience(s)
- A one-page abstract (500 words) of your paper or session, clearly indicating what each
presenter, if more than one, will contribute.
- A list of needs for your paper or session (Internet access and on-site computers may be
limited. Come prepared.)
PROPOSALS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY August 1, 2004 to:
sgonzal@binghamton.edu with "LACxC Conference"
in the Subject line.
Proposal acceptances will be sent by email no later August 15, 2004.
